No New Prisons IL Teach-In

Illinois isn’t the only state trying to build more prisons and jails- there are fascist carceral projects being attempted across the u.s. Join us as we welcome comrades from Kentucky, compare notes and learn from their ongoing fight against federal prison expansion in Letcher County. Take immediate actions and get plugged into the growing campaign to stop the rebuilds of Logan & Stateville prisons here in Illinois!

In 2024, Governor Pritzker allocated $900 million of IL residents’ tax dollars to rebuild two prisons, intending to replace Stateville and Logan prisons with what are described as “state-of-the-art, trauma-informed facilities.” However, as our friends from the @nonewprisons.il campaign have stated, there is no such thing as a “trauma-informed” prison—prisons are inherently traumatizing.
