Picturing Our Loved Ones Inside

April 12 @ 1:00 pm – 4:00 pm

In July of 2025 we came together to start a collective community portrait honoring our loved ones inside. Over three workshops we made fabric squares using paint, fabric, collage and stitching each representing a loved one inside. Join us in April to stitch our fabric squares onto a beautifully designed quilt background. We will use the quilt to honor our loved ones, to lift them up at rallies and lobby days and we will the quilt hang in our spaces, to remind out communities that we’re fighting for them every day. This program will be co-led by Communities and Relatives of Illinois Incarcerated Citizens, WTS, and fiber artist and educator Eve Emrich to support final assembly of the collective community quilt.

What to bring: any needles or embroidery thread you can share!

There is free street parking, along with a parking lot at Washtenaw and Madison. The parking lot sign says “Acorn Granite.” Parking is free there.

When: We’ll have 2 sessions on Sundays from 1pm-4pm. Drop in as many times as you can on April 12 and April 19, 2026
